Go Skate Day in Missoula!

Go Skate Day in Missoula!
After the crazy long winter with pretty much no spring whatsoever (and even snow a week or so before) we were all super hyped for the first "official" day of summer and Go Skate Day.
Here is a little blurb written up by Dylan Tucker from Four Seasons Skatepark (an upcoming indoor park here in Missoula) who helped us out last Saturday.
Keep checking back as we will be posting more pictures as we receive them. Thanks, Bacon.
Hope everyone, everywhere had a rad Go Skateboarding Day! For us, it meant tossing hundreds of dollars in prizes at Missoula's skaters just because we love you.
Of course, each and every one of you helped make Go Skateboarding Day 2008 awesome for us, so THANK YOU!
I hope each of you will take the time to thank Chris Bacon, Joe Rizzo and the Edge of the World crew for their hard work. Also, next time you see any of our great volunteers, thank them for roasting themselves by the grill all day, or keeping you guys stoked and stocked with Red Bulls and waters all day! Matt, Zach, Brie, Arieanna, Mimi and Garrett all put out 110% to make Go Skateboarding Day great for all of you, so give 'em a high five next time you see them.
All in all, we had SEVEN contests over the course of the day, and every one had some ripping skating.

For the little guys, the BONES Skate Race had seven awesome times, but in the end Nick took home the prize for first place. (Sorry, no last names.)

BANK BEST TRICK (VANS/SKULLCANDY)- Tricks on the banks are harder than chinese math, but these fools make it look easy.
1. John Spencer- Nollie backside 180 Heelflip
2. Vaughn Romeo- Nollie Flip
3. Glen Hensley Jr.- Heelflip Nosestall
ANDREW REYNOLDS (BAKER/EMERICA) BIG GAP CHALLENGE- This category is for those who place little value on owning a working pair of knees later in life. Serious tech skills down something that makes my heels hurt just thinking about it.
1. Austin Saunders- Lazer Flip
2. Billy Moyle- Switch Varial Heel
3. Joe Allen- Frontside 360
4. Stef Jones- Frontside Flip

THUNDER GRIND CHALLENGE- Taking the tech to the mellow rail is what these kids are all about- no suprises who the winners were!
1. Casey Woods- Nollie Frontside Smith to Fakie
2. Jeff Harris- Frontside Tailslide to Fakie
3. John Spencer- Crooked Grind
MUSKA (ELEMENT/KR3W/SKULLCANDY) BIG HUBBA BUBBA DANCE- Seriously, the big hubba once threw me into a bush and I still haven't forgiven it. Lucky for me, these kids put a hurt on it, bigtime.
1. Austin Saunders- 50-50 Frontside Big Spin Out
2. Jake Spencer- Nosegrind

DELUX BIG BOWL JAM- The older set got in on the action in this event, and we saw some ripping skating go down. Everyone in the top five could have been the winner, in my opinion. Seriously hard to judge
1. Bodee
2. Rayce Nagel
3. Ray Hertz
4. Kolby Zugg
5. Joe Allen
6. James Spencer
7. Glen Hensley Jr.
8. Gene Hungerford
9. Eva DeNievi
ZERO/MYSTERY BIG RAIL CHALLENGE- The big rail is for the big boys, and on a hot day like this one, you go down and you could get grill marks its so hot. Great to see kids flailing down things like this!
1. Joe Andrews- Boardslide 5-0 180 out, Frontside Boardslide, Frontside Smith Grind
2. Austin Saunders- 5-0, Smith, 50-50, Frontside Boardslide
3. James Spencer- 50-50, Nosegrind, Serious grill marks can't keep him down!
KIDNEY BOWL JAM (VOX/SECTOR 9/FLIP/NHS)- The winner here was so obvious it hurt to watch, but everyone in this thing put down some sick Dogtown stuff.
1. Ray Hertz
2. Race Nagel
3. Zane
The little guy bowl jam also was sick, but our list of winners blew away in the wind (sometimes thats how it goes). I'm pretty sure Brad got 1st, tie for 2nd between Daniel and Austin and 3rd went to Nick M. Thanks everyone that showed up to skate and support Montana's best scene, and a HUGE shout out to Syd, Jayme and Ayden for sticking it out in the hot, hot sun. Best girls ever, period.
See you all soon! - Dylan Tucker w/Four Seasons Skatepark.
